Every Cinderella needs to make sure she is really marrying Prince (or Princess) Charming. Making sure to consider these 10 things will ensure that her knight in shining armor is not an idiot wearing tin foil.
Every little girl dreams of her wedding day. It is her one and only chance to be a princess. From a very young age, she plans out every detail. From the church to the white dress and the night full of dancing, you don’t have to be a clairvoyant to know she feels like Cinderella at the ball. Unfortunately, with over 50 percent of marriages ending in divorce, sometimes the knight in shining armor turns out to be an idiot wearing tin foil. Before getting married, every girl should consider these 10 things.
Number one: Size Matters
Contrary to popular belief, size does matter. The size of his temper that is. The size of his ego matters too. Does he get overly mad over little things? How does he treat the cashier at the grocery or his dog? The knight might get mad but in his anger, he remembers the golden rule. The idiot loses his temper frequently. He blows his top over little things and may even kick his dog.
Number two: Charming or Too Charming?
Every good knight knows chivalry. The idiot sees what the knight is doing and tries to emulate him. Unfortunately, he goes over board. The idiot will get mad when you open your own door. He will be overly insistent about picking up the bill or carrying your things.
Number three: How does he treat his momma?
The knight not only shows you respect and chivalry, he shows it to every woman. This is especially true when it comes to his momma. The knight is kind and respectful to the woman birthed him. The idiot, on the other hand, thinks that it’s cool to be mean to her. The mom who birthed the idiot gets no respect from her son.
Number four: Money, Money, Money
How does he spend his money? Is he wasteful? Is he a control freak? The knight will have a budget. The idiot will have an overly strict budget or none at all. It doesn’t take a psychic to know he will keep up the same tactics.
Number five: Quick to forgive
A knight always forgives and is willing to compromise. An idiot holds a grudge.
The next five issues can be true of knights and idiots alike. These are simply a matter of preference.
Number six: Religion
Do you share a faith? Does it matter to either of you? How will you raise your children?
Number seven: Children?
How many kids do you want to have? How soon will you have them? Will you both work? If not, who will stay home?
Number eight: Discipline
On the issue of children, how is discipline going to work? Are you going to spank? Do you plan to use logic and coaching? Its best not to leave this up to a tarot card reading.
Number Nine: Chores
Do you hate taking out the trash? Does he enjoy dishes? Who is going to clean the toilets? Make sure that a good divide of chores can happen.
Number 10: Holidays
Where will you spend the holidays? Is Christmas a must for his family? Does yours require your presence at Passover? Have the conversation.
