6 Reasons That You Should Be Happy About Being Single

Are you single and hating it? If that is the case, then you are most certainly focused on the wrong aspects of being single. It doesn’t mean that your thoughts and feelings are wrong, it just means that if you want to be happy single, then you are going to have to shift your thoughts and feelings towards a new focus. This article will talk about 6 new things to focus on so you can be happy being single.

1. You Have Time For Personal Growth

I’m not saying that personal growth stops when you get in a relationship, but when you are single you can do whatever you want with your time. You can spend all day reading a book or go for a walk to think things over (at 11pm). You can travel to Africa and have experiences there without accommodating someone else’s schedule. You can become the person you were meant to be, because your only focus is yourself.

2. There is No Compromising Your Wants

When you are in a relationship, there has to be some compromise on where to eat, what to watch, what to do, and where to go. When you are single, you get to choose the where, what, why, and how of everything you do. Enjoy the freedom to selfishly indulge in your wants while you can.

3. No One Can Make You Feel Bad

While there are many great things about relationships, one of the downsides is fights and disagreements that can happen. You may receive the silent treatment from your partner (which hurts like hell) or you may end up suffering some other sort of upsetting occurrences. Point is, when you are single you don’t have to worry about crying over what your partner said or did.

4.  Sex Becomes Less of an Issue

This may seem like a downside, but when you are single, you can satisfy your needs when you want without pressure, disappointment, or fear of saying what you really think. Relationship sex is important to a relationship, and when it has gone south, it can be a lot of pressure (and stress) to fix it and give your partner what they want.

5. Less Responsibility

Many people become single and say “Whoa! I no longer feel like I’m working a part-time job on top of my full-time life.” This means that they don’t have to punch and out with their partner, and they are only accountable to themselves now. Appreciate the ability to not have to check in morning, noon, and night.

6. You Likely Eat Better

When you get in a relationship, you eat out and you eat often. Single people tend to eat less than people do in relationships because they are following their own internal schedule, rather than eating a time that pleases their partner, as well. Personally, before my husband, I didn’t have a schedule for eating – I ate when I was hungry and that was it.  Enjoy the simple freedom of being able to eat whenever and whatever you want.

Can you now think of some more reasons that being single is great? Maybe having the bed all to yourself, or being able to stay up until 2 in the morning crying your eyes out over a sappy movie. If you shift your focus from what you don’t have to what you do have, then you will find that you will start to enjoy being single, while still looking forward to a relationship.
